Kazakhstan may raise oil exports to Germany via Druzhba

ASTANA/MOSCOW, Oct 27 (PRIME) -- Kazakhstan is in negotiations with its Russian and German partners to increase oil exports through Russia’s Druzhba oil pipeline to 2 million tonnes per year, Kazakh Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev told reporters on Friday.

“We are currently in negotiations, we are coordinating with the Russian side to ensure non-obstructed transit of the Kazakh oil through the territory of the Russian Federation and with the operator of the refineries (the Federal Network Agency of Germany) their capability to receive oil … We are currently speaking about an amount of up to 2 million tonnes of oil per year,” Satkaliyev said.

The amount of 2 million tonnes is only indicative, and the actual amounts will be defined during the negotiations, he said.

But Igor Dyomin, advisor to the president of Russian oil pipeline monopoly Transneft, said that the company had not received any notifications from Kazakhstan.

“We have not received any requests. Monthly oil transit stands at 100,000 tonnes at the moment,” he said.
